ABOUT THE ARTIST

Elvira is an emerging artist, already well recognized in the international scene for her works of portraying and her sculptures. She was born in 1990 in a small town in the province of Cuenca, Spain. Elvira grew up in a context full of artistic inspirations, so that she developed a great interest in this field since she was a child, enriching her theoretical and technical training through her studies. She graduated in Art History at the University of Valencia and received a scholarship for a job at the Sainty Gallery in London. In this period she bought her first camera, a decisive step for her career: from that moment on, she has never stopped experimenting and reinventing new techniques in order to find her own artistic expression. Among the various experiments resulting from Elvira's indisputable creativity, the act of self-painting her face stands out as a new form of communication, an innovative and revolutionary turning point in body art. In fact, through that process that involves first body painting, then photography and in the powerful context of the experience - that can be transformed into a performance, she brought back to contemporary the oldest tradition of portrait.

Starting from 2016, with a first exhibition at the Contempop Gallery in New York, she has participated in group and solo exhibitions mainly in the United States, Spain, France, Italy and in numerous other countries. She started collaborating with the Sist'Art Gallery in 2020 and in 2021 she inaugurated the Face Project in the deconsecrated chapel of St Mark's Square (the Sis'Art Chapel). Her success is also determined by her sculptures of dogs, where the passion for colors and research of formal equilibrium achieves its most POP expression.
