Janet Bellotto is a multidisciplinary Italian-Canadian artist based in Dubai. Her practice encompasses sculpture, installation, photography, video and performance. Water flows through her work: oceans and waves, submersion and reflections, in-between states that are fluid and aqueous. Her recent work has focused on islands in the Atlantic and Indian oceans and their delicate ecologies and environments.
Bellotto is a Professor in Visual Arts at the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises of Zayed University. She is an initiator in various collaborations that promote cultural exchange and was the Artistic Director for the 2014 International Symposium on Electronic Art hosted in Dubai. Her Sable Island project was published in the book Our Ocean Guide (2017). Bellotto has exhibited internationally in solo and group shows in Germany, UAE, Italy, Canada, UK, Egypt and the USA.
