STREET BULLDOGS

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Frédéric Avella was born in France in 1975 in a family of stonemasons . He was early taught how to treat stone and marble, from the polishing of these materials to their cutting and engraving .

He worked as a supervisor for fountains and statues renovation in Côte d'Azur.

When he became a sculptor he chose to represent cartoons and comics symbols , derived from pop culture. Avella transforms these figures used by brands as well as sport mascots into some exaggerated and hilarious parodies. In order to achieve his goal, he uses bright colors and shapes his works with strong and powerful lines and curves that underline the funny aspects of his sculptures.

He collaborates with numerous art galleries; among the others, he exhibited in Bartoux in Cannes, Megevem Courchevel, Saint Paul de Vence, BCK Gallery in Marrakech, ZBERRO Gallery in Paris, and Avant Gallery in Miami and New York.
