ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jernej Forbici is a Slovenian artist born in Maribor in 1980. He attended the College for Visual Arts in Ljubljana, then obtained a diploma in painting from the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, and a master's degree in visual arts and performing arts disciplines. He has integrated his studies thanks to a scholarship received from the Slovenian  Office of Culture and an invitation to residency in London, where he had the opportunity to focus his studies on the English masters. Today he lives and works between Kidričevo, Ptuj and Vicenza.
The beginning of Forbici's career is marked by the creation of paintings, which over time have been combined with photographic, video, sculptural and installation elements.

He has exhibited since 1999 in well-known personal and collective exhibitions in Europe, Canada, United States, Argentina and China; his works are also present in private and public collections. He has been invited to the following Biennial exhibitions: Hicetnunc in Pordenone, the IBCA International Art Biennial in Prague, the 51st and 53rd Venice Biennale.
