Yulia
Muravyeva is a contemporary Russian-born artist, born in 1980, known
internationally for her vibrant and unmistakable three-dimensional floral
paintings. Raised with a strong passion for the visual arts, she pursued
university studies in her home country focusing on classical drawing and art
education. Before embarking on the painting path that made her famous today,
she gained valuable professional experience in restoring artwork and painting
religious icons—two fields that allowed her to refine her technical precision
and deepen her understanding of materials and pigments.
In 2000,
the artist relocated to Amsterdam, which became her home and the location of
her studio. Beginning in 2010, her artistic output achieved widespread acclaim
from both the public and critics thanks to a unique stylistic hallmark: the
depiction of flower fields through a distinct tactile and sculptural effect.
Muravyeva crafts the flower buds by applying thick layers of oil and acrylic
paint directly onto the canvas, making the subjects emerge from the surface
with an evident three-dimensionality that invites visual and sensory
engagement.
Her
flowers, featuring clean and almost geometric forms, stand out against
backgrounds characterized by soft, chromatically enveloping gradients designed
to instill feelings of serenity, positive energy, and warmth in the viewer.
Blending the solid discipline of classical painting with a modern and abstract
aesthetic, her works have been exhibited at numerous contemporary art fairs and
events, including the Toronto Art Fair, the Affordable Art Fair in Maastricht,
Art Copenhagen, and Berlin Art Week, finding their place in prestigious
galleries and private collections across Europe and North America.
