FRENCH LE-ROY

Born in 1971, David French Le Roy is a self-taught Irish still life painter known for his refined and luminous oil works rooted in classical European traditions. After debuting at the Wexford Opera Festival in 1997 with contemporary pieces, he shifted toward a more traditional style inspired by Dutch and Spanish masters like Kalf and Meléndez.

This evolution brought wider recognition and private commissions. After spending some time in France and Australia, he deepened his visual language before returning to his native Wexford, where he now lives and works.

His paintings have been exhibited internationally in private and public collections across Europe, the US, and Australia. He also created work for Billy Roche’s Such as We at the Peacock Theatre.

French Le Roy continues to explore the quiet poetry of everyday objects through harmony, light, and timeless stillness.
