MILAN WELCOMES SALVADOR DALÍ - AND THINGS ARE ABOUT TO GET DELICIOUSLY SURREAL!

Sist’Art Gallery & DALI UNIVERSE present Dalí and Food , a parallel homage to the irreverent genius of Surrealism, Salvador Dalí, and to ‘Dalí and Fashion’, the major exhibition presented at Palazzo Reale from September 24, 2026, to January 31, 2027.

As Milan enters its most animated season and the city turns its attention to one of the autumn’s most anticipated cultural events, Sist’Art proposes a different way of encountering Dalí—one in which art extends beyond the gallery walls and enters the realms of fashion, gastronomy, desire, and performance.

A curated selection of works from DALI UNIVERSE & SIST’ART will be presented both at the gallery on Via Monte di Pietà 1 and, in an evocative dialogue between art and conviviality, within the historic setting of Il Salumaio di Montenapoleone, in the heart of Milan’s fashion district.

The project explores the intimate and often provocative relationship between Dalí, food, and fashion—subjects that, within the artist’s universe, were never merely decorative or incidental. They became instruments of transformation, seduction, fantasy, and desire. For Dalí, food transcended nourishment. It was an object of fascination and symbolism, capable of becoming high art, sensual provocation, and theatrical spectacle. Fashion, in much the same way, offered a stage for reinvention. A garment could conceal or reveal, transform identity, suggest desire, or invite the wearer to become someone—or something—entirely different.

In Dalí’s hands, both food and fashion became manifestations of the Surrealist imagination: familiar objects made strange, everyday rituals transformed into theatre, and desire rendered visible.

A Journey Through Dalí and Fashion

A visit to Milan would not be complete without experiencing Dalí and Fashion at Palazzo Reale.

Conceived as a journey through six poetic acts—The Prologue, The Secret Life of Fashion, The Wardrobe, The Dream of Fashion, Performing Fashion, and finally Dalí and Fashion—the exhibition brings together more than two hundred works, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, and garments.

At its heart lies a remarkable constellation of artistic and creative encounters, revealing Dalí’s extraordinary influence on the language of fashion and his collaborations with some of the most visionary names of the 20th century, including Elsa Schiaparelli, Chanel, Dior, Rabanne, and Vogue.

Lunch as Performance at Il Salumaio

From Palazzo Reale, the journey continues to Il Salumaio di Montenapoleone, one of Milan’s most emblematic addresses.

A place where history, elegance, gastronomy, and fashion converge, the restaurant offers a fitting stage for Dalí’s world. It is also a location familiar to cinema lovers, having served as one of the settings for a scene in The Devil Wears Prada 2.

Within its evocative Renaissance-style courtyard, two museum-quality sculptures by Dalí— Snail and the Angel and Homage to Fashion —take their place in a dialogue with the architecture and atmosphere of the historic setting.

The works evoke some of the most enduring themes of Dalí’s practice: the metamorphosis of reality, the seductive ambiguity of images, the relationship between the body and desire, and the perpetual tension between the familiar and the fantastical.

Inside the restaurant, a further selection from DALI UNIVERSE & SIST’ART—including bronzes, lithographs, and plates—extends this dialogue, allowing Dalí’s imagination to unfold across the spaces of one of Milan’s most refined culinary destinations.

Here, lunch becomes more than a pause between exhibitions. It becomes part of the experience: a moment in which art, gastronomy, fashion, and performance converge around the surrealist imagination.

And, naturally, every journey needs a final stop.
