MINOTTO

Raffaele Minotto

Raffaele Minotto is an Italian artist, born in Padua in 1969.
He attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, where he graduated in 1991. He devotes himself to painting, engraving through etching and dry-point techniques, and also to drawing.
His favorite subjects are scenes from everyday life that depict ordinary people in common places and visions of interiors reminiscent of sumptuous Venetian palaces.
His painting style is unique and consists of a mix of techniques and references: on one hand you can notice fast brushstrokes and very dense patches of colour inspired from the Impressionists and Post Impressionists like Van Gogh; on the other, especially for the interior scenes, there is a careful and in-depth study of light, which has in Caravaggio its greatest master. In addition, his way of painting, especially regarding the yield of edges and light rays, is influenced by the engraving techniques: sharp lines, perfectly straight, which seem to almost cut the space and the canvas.

Since 1995, Minotto has participated in group and solo exhibitions in Italy and Europe; he has taken part in important art fairs in Italy, Europe, the United States and Asia.
In 2009 he was selected for "Contemplazioni", an exhibition that focused on contemporary Italian painting, curated by Alberto Agazzani.
In 2011 he was invited to exhibit at the 54th Biennale Arte of Venice, in the Veneto Regional Section.
In 2017 the important Italian TV channel “Canale 5” dedicated an episode of “ TG5 Anti-Impressioni su tela ” to him, a special heading focused on the world of art, in which the artist was also interviewed.

The sign and the color, the charcoal, the colored paste. The media mix and overlap: they form the syntax of the image, the painting.
